Transfer of Bahr El Baqar wastewater to Sinai
The project comes within the framework of the state’s keenness to regulate the use of available water resources, including agricultural drain water, by diverting the drain to pass through the Al-Salam Canal siphon under the Suez Canal to one site, one of the largest treatment plants in the world with a capacity of 5 million m³/day.
Where treatment works are carried out and the treated water is re-pumped into the Peace Canal east of the Suez Canal (Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah Canal) to be used in the national project for the development of North Sinai with a total area of 465 thousand acres.
The company participated in the implementation of excavation, expansion and construction works of the new Bahr El-Baqar drain, reaching the main pumping station, then implementing the pipeline conveying the station’s discharge through 4 pipelines with a diameter of 3800 mm (treated steel pipes with a cathodic protection system) to pass under the Suez Canal through the Salam Canal siphon, then four similar pipelines to the giant treatment station’s intake.
